Our Mission
Man Up Teacher Fellowship is a non-profit organization with the mission to give students in high poverty, urban and rural communities, particularly male students of color, access to high quality male teachers and advancing policies that promote equity in K – 12 schools.
The Strategy
Man Up Teacher Fellowship, in partnership with institutions like Mississippi State University, University of Memphis, Teacher Ready and RELAY Graduate School of Education, will recruit, identify and train highly effective male teachers of color.
All candidates will go through a rigorous selection process in which six essential Man Up Teacher Fellowship characteristics will be identified:

- Professional Leadership
- Reflective Practitioner
- Critical Thinking
- Personal Leadership
Our Goals
- To increase the number of highly effective male teachers of color in partnering schools by 5% over the next five years;
- To increase the number of males of color majoring in education at partnering institutions by 5% over the next five years;
- To decrease the number of disciplinary referrals of male students of color by 5% over the next five years;
- To improve the academic achievement of male students of color in partnering school districts by 5% each academic school years;
- To increase the graduation rate of men of color in partnering schools by 5% over the next five years; and
- To decrease the dropout rate for men of color in partnering school districts by 5% over the next five years.
